Stunning reds and whites from the Rhône Valley

Rotem & Mounir Saouma deliver a trio of Châteauneuf-du-Pape knockouts

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Omnia 2013: 94 points
Alluring, with cinnamon, black tea and violet aromas leading the way for a rich, yet silky and refined, core of raspberry, plum and red currant coulis flavors. Best from 2018 through 2028.—J.M.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Arioso 2012: 97 points
This is cut from different cloth, with beguiling loganberry, açai berry and raspberry fruit seamlessly melded with dried star anise, singed cinnamon and black tea notes, all carried by substantial yet remarkably silky tannins. A light echo of iron pervades the finish, adding extra cut to the copious fruit and spice elements. Hard to resist now but should cruise in the cellar. Drink now through 2032.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape White Magis 2013: 96 points
Gorgeous, with a rich honeyed feel to the pear, star fruit, yellow apple and Cavaillon melon notes, all inlaid with racy anise, jasmine and citrus oil notes. The long finish picks up twinges of chamomile and quinine for added range and length, retaining a flattering feel throughout. A stunner. Drink now through 2026.
